Early Elementary Teacher
As an Early Elementary Teacher at JCDSRI, you will create a joyful, developmentally responsive classroom where children build foundational academic skills, develop confidence and independence, and discover the excitement of learning. Working closely with colleagues and families, you will help foster a classroom community rooted in curiosity, belonging, and meaningful relationships.

1st Grade Lead Jewish Studies & Hebrew Teacher, Hebrew Teacher, Grades 4 & 5

Location: Providence, RI
Job Summary: Teach Jewish Studies and Hebrew language (vocabulary & grammar, both oral and written) to 1st grade, and Hebrew language (vocabulary & grammar, both oral and written) to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students (6 to 9 year olds). Teach Jewish history, holidays, culture, and prayers. Maintain a developmentally appropriate and inquiry-focused classroom environment. Utilize a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach to create a flexible curriculum that reduces barriers to learning by presenting content in varied formats, allowing students to express understanding in multiple ways, and supporting sustained engagement. Recognize and support individual student strengths, needs, and learning styles; assess and evaluate student progress. Design and adapt lesson plans for elementary school-aged children with attention to diverse learning styles and student needs, including those who identify as neurodiverse (ie: ADHD, sensory processing, and emotional regulation). Apply differentiated instruction, including modifying content, process, product, and environment to support individual student strengths and challenges. Provide instruction in foundational skills including critical thinking, social-emotional competencies, problem solving, self-advocacy, and community-building. Collaborate with families through home visits, weekly newsletters, and personalized communication. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development days, school events, and designated workdays before and after the academic year. Implement educational best practices and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP). Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning.
Education/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Education, or a related field; 2 years of experience in the following: designing and adapting lesson plans for elementary school-aged children with attention to diverse learning styles and student needs; applying differentiated instruction, including modifying content, process, product, and environment to support individual student strengths and challenges; and implementing educational best practices and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP). 1 year of experience in the following: teaching reading, writing, grammar and comprehension in Hebrew language to students ages 6-9 years old; designing and adapting lesson plans for elementary school-aged children, with attention to student needs who identify as neurodiverse (ie: ADHD, sensory processing, emotional regulation); and teaching Jewish history, holidays, culture, and prayers.
*Ability to work the following schedule: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (EST), Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays; Wednesdays 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (EST); Fridays 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM (EST).
