Our Mission

JCDSRI: Empowering our children today to design tomorrow’s world.

The Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island prepares confident, collaborative, critical thinkers for the twenty-first century. We employ a progressive curriculum that nurtures each student’s innate creativity and curiosity while promoting academic rigor and developing personal character. Supported by an inclusive community of families and staffed by an outstanding team of educators, JCDSRI reflects the values and ethics of a vibrant and diverse Jewish community.

JCDSRI Statement of Non-Discrimination: The Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island (JCDSRI), as an open and inclusive Jewish day school located in the culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse city of Providence, affirms its commitment to fostering a school community that reflects the vibrancy, variety, and complexity of contemporary Jewish life. In accordance with our core Jewish values—including b’Tzelem Elohim (the belief that all people are created in the image of the Divine) and Tzedek (Justice)—JCDSRI strives to build a learning and working environment rooted in dignity, respect, empathy, and equity for all individuals.

JCDSRI embraces individuals of all backgrounds, and continuously cultivates a community inclusive of diversity in ethnicity, race, nationality, Jewish identity and practice, interfaith family composition, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, socio-economic status, physical and cognitive ability, and worldview. This commitment is evident in our curriculum, programming, admissions, hiring, professional development, and engagement with the broader community. We believe that all students—from our youngest learners in Nitzanim to our graduating 5th graders—should be prepared to act as compassionate global citizens and agents of change toward a more just world. Likewise, all faculty, staff, and administrators are empowered and encouraged to participate in the ongoing work of tikkun olam (repairing the world).
