Welcome From Head of School

Welcome to the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island!

Whether you are visiting our website for the first time as a prospective parent , an alumnus wanting to re-engage with our school, a supporter interested in our new learning initiatives, or a current parent looking for the latest news, I hope you find this site informative and helpful.

It has been over 15 years since I first visited this special school as an excited (and a bit anxious!) parent of an incoming kindergartener. Since then, I have have had the privilege of experiencing the extraordinary learning environments our talented JCDSRI faculty and staff consistently create for their students. And now, as I walk through our hallways and peer into our classrooms, I am filled with awe as I observe joyful teachers incorporating children’s interests into their lessons while simultaneously extending their curiosities and knowledge.

Our students, faculty, and staff display an empathic and expansive approach to problem solving while integrating our school’s values of kindness, respect, and responsibility into the fabric of JCDSRI’s academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual life. I believe that the strength of our learning community stems from the relationships that exist among the people who call JCDSRI home. As Dr. Comer of Yale University explains: “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship.” The intentional building of relationships at JCDSRI – between teachers and students, parents and educators, the school and the broader community – lays a sturdy foundation on which our students can explore and discover, learning to embrace the unknown with a sense of purpose and belonging.

Come visit our school and meet some of the people who make JCDSRI such a special learning community. I believe that you will be inspired – as I am – by the next generation of philosophers, designers, builders, seekers, and doers. Our doors are always open to you. I invite you to join our family and make JCDSRI “home” – whether as a parent, student, volunteer, or supporter!
